Virtual Kinesthetics1-week summer school, 2-8 August 2021
Taught by Alex Anderson & Paula Strunden
UPCOMING! VirtualKinesthetics is a week-long immersion into the artistic possibilities of using kinesthetics in Virtual Reality – exploring body movement, world-making and inflatable architecture. Open call for applications > Apply now
Over seven days we will design, construct and inhabit an inflatable mixed-reality installation. Our objective is to extend the physical space of STORE and allow participants to experience a collaborative making process through body movement, poses and gestures in VR. This will involve various analogue and digital techniques using software such as Gravity Sketch, Tilt Brush, and Unity. Processes will include 1:1 drawings, embodied VR modelling, working with open source game engines as well as cutting and sealing the inflatable sculptures. This summer school will extend our multi-sensory perception of reality and defy laws of physics to question the binary of the actual and the virtual, between reality and imagination.
